What is the salary payout schedule in Portugal?

In Portugal, employees get paid once a month. Employees typically get paid on the 25th of every month. If this falls on a weekend, then they will receive their salary on the Friday before the weekend starts. Here’s how it works:

• Employees can choose between 12 and 14 salary payouts.
• The Employee's annual salary must include the Christmas allowance and the Vacation allowance regardless of whether the annual salary is paid in 12 or 14 installments.
• From January 2023, all new hires will be automatically enrolled in a 14 payout cycle. Employees can change their choice once a year in January. This ensures more accuracy and consistency in invoicing, as Customers will know exactly what salary will be paid each month.
