Form 1099-NEC is a tax form used to report the income a US-based company pays to someone who is not an employee. Form 1099-NEC is generated based on the following criteria:

  • Company is based in the US
  • Contractor is based in the US
  • Contractor was paid more than 600 USD in relevant tax year via the Remote platform

We automatically generate this form for US-based contractors and US-based employers. These are delivered to each contractor as well as to their employers via the Remote platform.

Who fills Form 1099-NEC out?

Contractors

We upload Copy B & Copy 2 to the Contractor's dashboard and send an email notification to contractors to let them know. The Contractor is responsible for completing the empty fields and using this form to file their taxes.

Employer

We upload Copy C & Copy 1 (one file per contractor) to the Company's dashboard and send an email notification to the Company to let them know. The Company is responsible for completing the empty fields and using this form to file their taxes.
