A gradual minimum wage increase in Chile (2023)

The government in Chile passed the law to gradually increase the minimum wage in Chile to $500,000 CLP (US$560).

When and how does the minimum wage increase?

Following approval of the law to increase the minimum wage in Chile, the amounts will rise gradually as follows:

1. $440,000 CLP (US$493) as of May 1, 2023 - applied retroactively in June 2023

2. $460,000 CLP (US$515) as of September 1, 2023 (legal source)

    • As of September 1, 2023, the Minimum Monthly Income is
      • $460,000 for workers over 18 years of age and up to 65 years of age
      • $343,150 for workers under 18 years of age and over 65 years of age
      • $296,511 for non-remunerative purposes

3. $500,000 CLP (US$560) as of July 1, 2024

Gratificación, the legal gratification bonus amount, changes accordingly when the minimum wage increases.
