Who bears the cost of any transfer fees or currency exchange rate differences?

If the currency our customer pays to Remote is different from the currency the contractor chooses to get paid in, contractors bear the cost of currency exchange fees. At Remote, we do not charge our customers transaction fees or currency exchange rate differences. We only pass on fees determined by our payment providers.
Remote uses banks, Stripe and Wise (formerly TransferWise) for payouts to contractors. These providers charge a processing fee. These costs are typically low but if you want to provide a buffer for your contractors, it is advisable that they add a small payment to their invoice to cover these potential costs.
