Is a probation period required in the United States?

All states (except Montana) fall under "employment at-will". This means employees or the employer can terminate their relationship at any time. It is possible for a notice period to be included in the employment agreement. If it is a voluntary termination, it is customary for employees to provide 2 weeks' notice.
