In Germany, the legal entitlement is 14 weeks of maternity leave - at least six weeks before, and eight weeks after childbirth. In the event of a premature birth, multiple births or if the child has a disability, the employee is entitled to 18 weeks of maternity leave.

As an employee, during your statutory maternity leave, you can claim the maternity leave benefit.
