In this article, we explain how to use the Imports activity to track your previous uploads, review results, and continue any imports you did not finish.
Access your import activity
This feature is available to company admins with the owner, super admin, or a custom role with the right permissions.
To access your import activity:
- Sign in to Remote
- Go to the Imports section
- Select the Import activity tab
ℹ️ In this tab, you can find all the imports you created. We are already working to expand visibility to include imports started by other admins.
Understand your imports at a glance
Each row in the table represents one import and gives you a quick overview.
Properties include:
- The date the import was created
- The status of the import
- What the import was used for (for example, contractor payments)
- The number of records included
- How many records were successfully processed
- Who created the import
The status column shows the current state of the import:
- Upload: File is in the process of uploading to Remote
- Map: The file’s data needs to be mapped to the required fields in Remote’s platform
- Review: Data needs to be reviewed for errors and completeness
- Success: Data was successfully imported and available on Remote’s platform
This makes it easy to spot which imports may need a follow-up.
Other important indicators:
- Contains errors: Once the data begins importing but one or more rows were unsuccessful, it will be indicated next to the import date
Continue a draft import
If you did not finish an import, you can pick up where you left off.
- Go to Imports and select Import activity
- Find the import marked as Draft
- Open the actions menu (…) and select View details
You will return to the same step so you can complete the import.
Review results or fix errors
Once an import is complete, you can review the results and fix any errors.
- Go to Imports and select Import activity
- Find the import you want to review
- Open the actions menu (…)
From here, you can:
- Select Download data to get a CSV file with detailed results for each row, including error messages
- Select View details to open the import
For example, if some rows didn’t go through, the downloaded file explains why, so you can correct the data and upload it again.
If you can’t open an import
Some imports are linked to a specific setup, such as a legal entity or cost center. In these cases, the View details option may not be available.
To access the import:
- Open the actions menu (…) and select Copy import ID
- Go to the area where you originally created the import
- Add ?jobId=<your-import-id> to the page URL
This will take you directly to the correct import.
