Remote Work or Business Travel Request: what it is and how to request it

  • Updated
This is applicable to EOR customers only

Please note: This is a paid service. All employees are required to submit a Remote Work Authorisation request before working from any location outside their country of employment. Skipping this step can lead to serious immigration, tax, or legal compliance risks for both you and the company. Submitting a request ensures we can review and support your plans appropriately.

A Remote Work or Business Travel Request ensures you can:

  • Work remotely from another country, or
  • Travel internationally for business

while staying compliant with immigration, tax, and legal requirements.

This is a paid service, and Remote manages these requests through WorkFlex, our compliance partner. Final documents will be saved in your Remote profile.

When do you need to submit a request?

Submit a request if you plan to:

  • Work from a country different from your employment country (even for a short time)
  • Combine personal travel with remote work (“workation”)
  • Temporarily relocate abroad for personal reasons
  • Work from a second home outside your employment country
  • Travel internationally for business

If you’re unsure, submit a request so we can confirm compliance.

Why is this required?

International work or travel may trigger requirements related to:

  • Immigration and visa rules
  • Tax and social security obligations
  • Local legal or reporting requirements

Submitting a request helps protect both you and Remote from compliance risks.

How to submit a request?

  • Log in to your Remote profile
  • Go to the Request Hub
  • Select Remote Work Request & Business Travel Request
  • Enter your destination, dates, and purpose

Please submit your request at least 3–8 weeks before departure to allow time for review.

What happens after you submit the request?

After you submit your request:

  1. Manager review

Your manager will approve or decline the request in Remote.

  2. WorkFlex compliance form (if approved)

You’ll receive an email from WorkFlex to complete a short form.

  3. Remote review

WorkFlex completes the assessment, and the Mobility team confirms next steps.

  4. Final decision & documents

You will be notified by email once the process is completed. Any assessment and compliance documents (such as A1 certificates) will be uploaded to your Remote profile, where they will be visible to you and your company.

Important notes

You must receive authorization before working outside your country of employment. Skipping this step may create serious immigration, tax, or legal risks.
