Use this guide to locate the Country transfer service in the Remote platform and submit a relocation request to move an EOR employee between Remote entities. It also covers what happens after you initiate the request, including PTO handling, resignation, and final pay.
What the Country transfer service does
- Moves an existing EOR employee from one Remote entity to another when relocating cross‑border.
- Coordinates offboarding from the current entity and onboarding to the new entity to avoid an employment gap
Where to find the button
You can start a transfer from the employee’s profile in the Employer Dashboard.
- Go to Team management → Team →Team overview
- Select the employee who is relocating.
- On the employee page, in Manage Profile and choose Country transfer service.
-
If you do not see the option, the employee may not be on EOR or your role lacks permission. Contact Support.
Tip: The option only appears for EOR employees who are eligible for a cross‑border relocation.
How to submit a country transfer request
- Open Country transfer service from the employee’s profile.
- Enter the destination country and intended start date in the new country.
- Confirm whether mobility/visa support is required. If yes, you’ll be guided to raise mobility request separately.
- Review the summary of offboarding and onboarding steps and acknowledge the one‑time service fee.
- Submit the transfer request. A ticket is created for our teams to coordinate timelines with you and the employee.
What happens next
- Remote coordinates the offboarding from the current entity and the onboarding in the new entity, aiming for a seamless contract transition with no gap.
- Payroll continuity is maintained and timelines are aligned across teams.[
Important responsibilities and policy notes
- Employee resignation still required
- Even when the client initiates a transfer, the employee must submit their resignation to end the original employment before the re‑hire in the new country proceeds.
- PTO during transfers
- Accrued PTO may be transferred only in relocation cases and only when local laws allow. Otherwise, PTO is handled per the origin country’s standard offboarding rules and the new contract starts accrual fresh.
- Final pay
- The employee will be entitled to a final payment per the origin country’s legislation and Remote’s standard offboarding calculations. The re‑hire in the destination country proceeds as a new employment under that entity’s rules.
- Mobility/visa support
- If required, mobility services are not part of the transfer fee and are billed separately.
Fees
- There is a one‑time fee per employee per transfer to cover the additional operational work of offboarding and onboarding between entities. This is separate from the monthly management fee.
