Remote Equity integrates seamlessly with Carta, allowing you to manage equity grants without duplicate data entry. This guide walks you through connecting your Carta account to Remote and syncing employee equity information between both platforms.
Initial Setup
-
Select Carta during workspace setup: During your Remote Equity workspace setup (How can I set up my Remote Equity workspace for the first time?), you'll be asked to choose your Capitalization Table Management Solution (CTMS). Select Carta from the available options.`
-
Connect to Carta: After selecting Carta, click the "Log in to Carta" button to establish the connection.
-
Confirm and link employee accounts: Review your company details, then link employee accounts using the information Remote pulls from Carta.
Linking Employee Accounts
When syncing employees between Remote and Carta, you have four linking options:
Auto-link
Remote automatically matches employees to their Carta profiles using their email addresses. This works when employees use the same email in both systems.
Manual link
If an employee uses a different email address in Carta, you can search for and select their correct profile manually.
Link later
Choose this option for employees who haven't received equity grants yet and don't appear in Carta. You can link them after they receive their first grant.
No equity
Select this option for employees who won't receive equity grants and don't need to be linked to Carta.
After Connection
Once the connection is complete, no further action is required. Remote automatically pulls all grant declarations and exercise information directly from Carta.
Important note about RSU grants: While RSU grant data syncs automatically from Carta, you still need to log in to Remote Equity to confirm RSU vesting events. This is because the price per share can change and may not always be current in Carta.
Also, please note that the Carta integration does not support SARs (or tokens). If you issue any of these, contact our team and we will enter them manually.
