In this article, you’ll learn how to find your social insurance contribution history in WeChat and use it as proof of your cumulative work experience. This helps ensure your leave entitlement is accurate in your employment agreement.
What you’ll need before you start
To access social insurance records in WeChat, you may need:
- A WeChat account
- Your China ID details for real-name verification (depending on your city’s requirements)
- Access to an official social insurance mini program for your registered city
Note: This process applies to employees hired through Remote’s Employer of Record (EOR) in China only.
When to use this proof
You may need this proof when:
- You’re onboarding and your employment agreement needs your cumulative work experience to calculate leave entitlement
- You notice your leave entitlement looks different than expected and you’re asked to provide supporting records
Example
If your social insurance record shows your first contribution was March 2017 and your most recent record is March 2026, that gives an initial estimate of your cumulative work experience. If there are gaps in contributions, your total years of service may be adjusted.
Step 1: Open WeChat and search for a social insurance mini program
- Open WeChat.
- Select Discover (发现) → Mini Programs (小程序).
- Search for an official social insurance mini program using one of these keywords:
- 本地社保 (local social security system)
- XX市社保 (municipal social security of your registered city)
12333 (optional, if available in your area)
Tip: Search results can vary by city. If you don’t see an official option, try searching your city name plus “社保”.
Step 2: Confirm you’re using an official mini program
- Open the mini program that appears to match your city.
- Confirm it’s published by the local Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (人社局/社保局) or another official government platform.
Important: If you’re not sure a mini program is official, don’t enter your ID details. Instead, use the in-person options listed later in this article.
Step 3: Log in and complete identity verification
- Follow the prompts to log in.
- Complete real-name verification if required. This may include ID verification.
- Look for a menu option related to your personal benefits or social insurance inquiry. Common menu paths include:
(Social security services → social security inquiry)
(Personal benefits → personal benefits statement / insurance coverage history)
(Personal rights record → social insurance contribution details)
- 参保证明 (may show first contribution time)
Step 4: Open your contribution details and identify your earliest record
- Review the contribution history and identify the earliest contribution month and year:
- 最早参保时间 (earliest insured time) and/or
- 首次缴费时间 (first contribution time)
- Take a screenshot that shows:
- Your earliest insured month/year, and
- Your most recent contribution record (or the visible range showing the start and latest record)
This screenshot helps estimate your cumulative work experience If your records show gaps, the estimate may change.
If your records are missing or don’t show early history
If you can’t see your earliest contribution records in WeChat, you can request a printed record instead:
Option 1: Visit a social insurance service counter
- Visit the local social insurance service counter
- Bring your ID and social security card.
- Ask to print your contribution record.
Option 2: Use a self-service terminal
- Use a self-service terminal (自助终端机) at a service hall or community center.
- Follow the prompts to print your contribution record.
You can upload either a WeChat screenshot or a clear photo of your printed contribution record.
