Remote MCP vs. logging in to Remote: when to use what

Remote MCP is a complement to the Remote app, not a replacement. Some tasks are easier in the Remote app; others are faster in your AI client.

When to use Remote MCP

  • You want to ask quick questions about your own data, your team, or your company in plain language.
  • You want the AI to combine information from several places in Remote into one summary.
  • You want to connect Remote data with data from other MCPs, such as your calendar or Notion.
  • You want the answer in your AI client's conversation.

When to use the Remote app directly

  • You need the official UI, for example to sign documents.
  • You want to use Remote features that are not exposed as MCP tools today.
