How to edit a COR Contractor Services Agreement (CSA) or Statement of Work

  • Updated

As a company admin, you can now edit a Contractor of Record (COR) Contractor Services Agreement (CSA), also called a Statement of Work (SOW), while the agreement is still a draft or is awaiting the contractor's signature. This article covers where to make the edits, which fields you can change, what the contractor receives, and what to do when an edit is blocked.

This article is for company admins who manage COR contractors. Contractors cannot edit the agreement, they receive it for review and signing. If you work with Contractor Management (CM) or Contractor Management Plus (CM+) contractors, editing already worked this way and nothing changes for those agreements.

This article covers:

When you can edit the agreement

You can edit an agreement based on its current status.

Agreement status Can you edit it?
Draft Yes
Awaiting contractor signature Yes
Signed by the contractor No
Archived or revised No

Once the contractor signs, the agreement is final. To change the terms after signing, issue a new Statement of Work.

How to edit the agreement

  1. Open the contractor's profile.
  2. Go to the Job tab.
  3. Find the row for the contract document, then select Edit. The Statement of Work form opens, which is the same form used when the agreement was created.
  4. Update the fields you need to change. Fields that cannot be changed appear as read-only.
  5. Select Save and continue to apply your changes.

What you can edit

Field What to know
Services and deliverables Every save re-runs the AI compliance check on the description.
Service start date You can move the start date backwards or forward, as long as the new date is not in the past.
Service end date Required for COR. The end date can be up to one year from the start date.
Contractor notice period The maximum notice period for COR is 30 days.
Payment terms type, invoicing frequency, gross compensation amount, and compensation period unit You can change these when the new values stay within 15% of the risk reserve already paid for the contractor, or when your company does not have risk reserves enabled.

What you cannot edit

These fields appear as read-only in the form.

Field Why it is locked
Gross compensation currency Changing the currency would require the risk reserve to be recalculated at a new exchange rate.
Invoice payment due days This is fixed at 30 days for COR.
Country-specific and auto-populated legal fields These stay exactly as they were when the agreement was created.

What the contractor sees

What the contractor receives depends on the status of the agreement when you save your changes.

  • Awaiting contractor signature: saving re-sends the agreement. The contractor receives an email explaining that the agreement was updated and needs to be reviewed and signed, and their signature to-do is refreshed.
  • Draft: nothing is sent to the contractor. The agreement stays a draft, and it is only sent when you send it as usual.

When an edit is blocked

What you are trying to do What happens What to do next
Set a start date in the past, or an end date beyond the maximum term You see the same validation error shown when creating a Statement of Work Choose a future start date, and an end date within one year of the start date
Save a services and deliverables description that fails the AI compliance check The save is blocked with the same compliance error shown at creation Revise the description, then save again
Change pay details beyond 15% of the risk reserve already held The save is blocked Contact Support so a new risk reserve can be issued for the contractor
Edit an agreement the contractor has already signed, or an agreement that was archived Edit is no longer available, and saving fails with "Something went wrong. The document is now finalized and can no longer be edited." Issue a new Statement of Work with the updated terms

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the agreement after the contractor has signed it?

No. Once the agreement is signed, you need to issue a new Statement of Work with the updated terms.

Why can't I change the currency?

The gross compensation currency is locked because changing it would require the risk reserve to be recalculated at a new exchange rate.

Why was my rate change rejected?

The new rate falls outside the risk reserve already held for this contractor. Contact Support so a new risk reserve can be issued.

Does the contractor have to sign again?

Yes, if the agreement had already been sent for signature. Saving your changes re-sends the agreement, and the contractor needs to review and sign the updated version. If the agreement is still a draft, no signature is requested until you send it.

Can I move the start date earlier, or to a date that has already passed?

Yes, you can move the start date backward or forward, as long as the new date is not in the past (it needs to be at least ‘today’).
