When you set up a legal entity for Payroll, you may see a Documents task. If this task is available for the legal entity’s country, use it to upload the documents Remote needs to review before payroll can run.
The checklist reflects the document requirements for the legal entity’s country. It separates required documents from optional or recommended documents, helping you prioritize what Remote needs to run payroll.
How to upload documents
- Open the Documents task in Payroll onboarding.
- Upload one or more files. You can drag and drop several files at once or upload a file directly to a checklist category.
- Review the categories assigned to your files. If you used the drag-and-drop upload area, Remote AI reviews each file’s name and content and suggests a category.
- If needed, drag a file to a different category. You can move or delete a file while its status is New.
- Select Continue to submit the documents for review.
You do not need to upload every document at once. You can return to the task and add more documents as they become available.
What happens after you submit documents
After you select Continue, the documents move to Pending approval and Remote notifies the specialist assigned to the legal entity.
You cannot delete a document after submitting it, but you can upload additional documents. Remote updates each submitted document to one of the following statuses after review:
- Verified: Remote approved the document.
- Rejected: Remote could not approve the document. You receive the reason by email, and you can also view it by hovering over the document’s status in Remote. Upload a replacement document for that category as needed.
A Remote admin completes the Documents task after all required documents have been uploaded and approved. You receive an email when Remote completes the task.
Why do I not see the Documents task?
The Documents task is available only for legal entity countries where Remote supports a country-specific payroll onboarding checklist. If the task is not available for a legal entity, follow the instructions provided by your onboarding specialist.
