How to approve time off requests in Slack
Managers can now approve or decline time off requests directly in Slack, without signing in to Remote. All actions automatically sync with the team member's profile in Remote, helping keep records up to date.
With the Slack integration, company owners, super admins, and users with a custom role that includes time off approval permissions can:
- Approve time off requests directly from a Slack notification
- Decline time off requests and provide a reason
- Manage requests without switching between Slack and Remote
To use this feature:
- A company owner or super admin must turn on the Slack integration for the company
- Each company admin must connect their own Slack account to Remote
- Time off notifications must be turned on
For setup instructions, see: How do I enable the Slack integration?
- Log in to Remote
- Go to Account settings
- Open the Notifications tab
- Turn on Time off / public holiday requested
When a team member submits a time off request, you'll receive a personal Slack notification.
From the notification, you can:
- Approve the request
- Decline the request
- View the request directly on Remote
Notes:
- These notifications are sent to all company owners, super admins, and users with time off approval permissions.
- If another approver processes the request first, the Slack notification will remain visible.
- If you receive an error, please check the request in Remote to confirm whether another approver has already taken action.
