How to set up a payment method

On the Remote platform, we have several options you can choose from when making payment for your invoices. We offer bank transfer, direct debit or card payments. For Direct Debit, we currently support the US (ACH), Europe (SEPA) and the UK (BACS).

This article will cover the following:

• Setting up ACH direct debit through Trustly
• Setting up ACH direct debit manually
• Setting up SEPA direct debit
• Setting up BACS direct debit
• Setting up credit/debit cards

ACH Direct Debit is a payment method available for USD bank accounts based in the United States. It allows for automatic invoice payments directly from your bank account, ensuring timely processing without manual transfers.

Note: ACH Direct Debit cannot be set up for USD accounts outside of the United States.

To set this up, we use a verification partner that uses Open Banking to help verify and add your account. To set up the direct debit on Remote:

1. Go to the Company settings and click on Payment methods.
2. Click on Add payment method.

1. Choose the legal entity for this payment method
2. Choose ACH Direct Debit. The click on Start my account verification.
3. You will be prompted to choose your bank from the list and sign into your bank.
Note: If you cannot find your bank on the list, the ACH direct debit will have to be set up manually.
4. Choose the bank account you want linked to ACH direct debit and review the details. If the details are correct, click on Confirm & Deposit. We will deposit two small payments into this account.
5. It will take about 1-5 days for the deposits to appear on your bank statement. Once you have this information, go to the Payment methods tab to verify your bank account by confirming the deposits.

Please note: If you fail to verify your bank account within 10 days of receiving the micro-deposits, the verification window will expire. If this happens, you will need to delete the payment method (even though it is in progress) and start the process again.

To manually verify your account:

2. Click on Add payment method.
3. Choose the legal entity for this payment method.
4. Click on ACH Direct Debit.
5. If your bank is not listed, you will see an option to enter in your details manually. Click on Manually verify my account.
6. You will be asked to input your bank account information.

7. Once you've filled out your bank account information, click on Confirm & Deposit. We will send two deposits to the bank account you've shared. You need to look out for these amounts on your bank statement and come back to the platform to confirm the amounts you've received. Without this, your setup won't be complete.
8. Once you've seen the deposits in your account, go to the Payment methods tab to Verify payment method.
9. You will be asked to confirm the deposit amounts.
10. Once you have confirmed the deposit, you will be asked to authorize Remote to pull the payment from your account when your invoice is due.
