A wet ink signature is a physical signature that is handwritten directly onto a paper document. In some countries, local laws require these traditional signatures on contracts instead of electronic ones.

Which countries require wet ink signatures?
Some countries require wet ink signatures at some point during a team memberโs lifecycle: this can be during onboarding, amendments, or offboarding. To avoid introducing unexpected fees later in the employment lifecycle, Remote applies the wet ink service whenever wet signatures are required at any stage, even if not required at onboarding.
Currently, 16 countries fall into this category:
- Belarus ๐ง๐พ
- Bolivia ๐ง๐ด
- Dominican Republic ๐ฉ๐ด
- Ecuador ๐ช๐จ
- Egypt ๐ช๐ฌ
- El Salvador ๐ธ๐ป
- Indonesia ๐ฎ๐ฉ
- Mongolia ๐ฒ๐ณ
- Morocco ๐ฒ๐ฆ
- Nicaragua ๐ณ๐ฎ
- Panama ๐ต๐ฆ
- Paraguay ๐ต๐พ
- Peru ๐ต๐ช
- Poland ๐ต๐ฑ
- Serbia ๐ท๐ธ

Notes

Country-specific notes
Poland ๐ต๐ฑ - Wet ink signatures are only required for non-Polish nationals. Team members who hold a valid Polish passport can sign electronically and do not require wet ink services.
Ecuador ๐ช๐จ, Indonesia ๐ฎ๐ฉ, Vietnam ๐ป๐ณ - These countries have hybrid requirements, where wet ink is only needed at specific stages.

Additional considerations
In special cases, wet ink signatures may also be required due to local immigration or visa requirements. For example, some team members in Italy or Chile may need to sign employment agreements with wet ink when applying for visas or citizenship, while others can sign digitally. If this applies, Remote will notify you and the team member.
This list may be updated as local regulations change.
- To get reimbursement for the courier cost involved due to wet signing, EOR employees can submit an expense request on Remote.
