This article explains how to declare an equity exercise for a team member in Remote Equity.

When you provide an equity grant to your team, they may choose to exercise their right to buy shares granted under that agreement. This is called an exercise event. Declaring this event is mandatory in several countries, so it’s important to keep your Equity workspace up to date to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.

Before submitting an exercise, make sure the original equity grant has already been declared in the platform. If you haven’t done that yet, follow these steps: How do I declare a grant.

Declaring all equity grants for EOR team members is required under our Terms of Service.

Steps to Declare an Exercise

  1. Access the Remote Equity App
    • Log in to your Remote account
    • Select Equity from the left navigation menu
    • Click Access Remote Equity App on the right side of the screen (opens in a new tab)
  2. Start a New Exercise Declaration
    • Click Declare New in the top-right corner

    • Quantity exercised: Number of shares being exercised
    • Exercise price: confirm this matches the exercise price set out in the grant you have initially declared
