This article explains the Payroll implementation journey when your data is connected through Workday Global Payroll Connect (GPC).
What is Workday GPC?
Workday Global Payroll Connect (GPC) is Workday’s integration framework for connecting Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) to payroll providers.
In the Remote + Workday GPC setup, Workday acts as the customer’s system of record and connects to Remote’s Global Payroll platform so payroll inputs can be sent to Remote and payroll results can be returned back into Workday (for example, for reporting and payslip visibility where applicable).
The process follows Remote’s internal Workday GPC implementation framework and is structured into these phases:
- Preparation
- Plan
- Architect, Configure & Test
- Deploy
Timelines vary depending on country scope, readiness, and testing requirements.
Stage 1: Preparation
In this phase, we confirm readiness to start the project, including that the required country enablement and documentation is in place.
- You will receive a welcome email from your Implementation Specialist
- We will define your goals, specify tasks, and set deadlines and milestones.
- Once the Payroll contract has been signed, we can officially launch the implementation! You will have a dedicated specialist from Remote who will guide you through the process until go-live.
- Your dedicated specialist will share a Payroll customer journey deck, a detailed project timeline and share any required documents via the Documents tab.
- Necessary information and data collection: We will ask you to fill our country-specific files to gather all the necessary information.
Stage 2: Plan
During Plan, we establish the foundation for a successful implementation by defining:
- Scope, responsibilities, and owners (Remote, Workday / SI partner, and the customer)
- Timeline and key milestones
- Technical requirements and prerequisites
Stage 3: Architect, Configure & Test
This phase focuses on getting both workstreams ready and validated:
1) GPC connection setup
Establishing the technical integration between Workday and Remote’s Global Payroll platform.
2) Remote platform configuration
Configuring Remote’s payroll platform to support the customer’s requirements and the Workday integration.
3) Parallel testing (where applicable)
Running payroll in parallel with existing processes/systems to validate accuracy and confirm readiness for go-live.
Stage 4: Deploy
The Deploy phase transitions the customer to live payroll processing through Remote’s Workday GPC integration, including:
- Go-live activities
- Stabilization / hypercare support (as agreed)
- Handover to ongoing operations (BAU)
Transition to ongoing operations (BAU)
Successfully transitioning to Remote Payroll is a collaborative effort that ensures your payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently from day one!
After go-live stabilization, there is a transition to the appropriate ongoing support and operations teams.
