Why am I being asked to provide a VAT number?

When you sign up to use Remote, you will be asked to provide your company’s VAT number during account activation; this will be done in the "Add missing details" step.

A VAT/GST/TIN number is proof that you own a business.

If you are a customer established in a European Union (EU) member country, it is important we collect this information in order to apply the reverse charge directive of VAT within the EU.

Without the correct company VAT number, we would, unfortunately, need to charge the standard Dutch VAT of 21%. It is easy to apply for an EU VAT number in your country of establishment.
