How non-local currency salaries work for EOR team members

IIn some countries, team members hired through Remote's Employer of Record (EOR) can have their salary set in a non-local currency, such as USD or EUR. When this option is chosen, the salary will be paid in that same foreign currency.

This option gives companies more flexibility when managing compensation in markets with volatile local currencies or when aligning salaries with global benchmarks.

Foreign currency salary fee

When you choose a non-local currency salary arrangement, a recurring fee of 50 USD per team member per month applies. This fee reflects the additional operational complexity and compliance requirements involved in managing non-standard payroll setups across jurisdictions.

You’ll only be charged if you actively request this option for a specific team member in an eligible country. The fee will be clearly itemized on your reconciliation invoice.

What is a non-local currency salary?

A non-local currency salary means the salary is defined and paid in a foreign currency, such as USD or EUR, rather than the local currency of the country where the team member is employed.

For example, a team member employed in a country where the local currency is not USD will still have the salary set and paid in USD.

  • Additional requirements may apply based on the country and your employee’s specific case.
