What is a pre-employment eligibility check?

Remote offers a detailed analysis of a prospective employee's immigration status before you extend a job offer. This pre-employment check helps assess eligibility for employment, provide guidance on immigration compliance, and outlines any immigration-related obligations throughout the employment lifecycle. It’s a valuable tool to help companies make informed decisions about workforce planning and enablement.

This service is available to both Active and Potential customers. While the service itself is the same, fees apply only to Active customers.

The Pre-Employment Eligibility Check is designed for situations where the employer is unsure whether an individual—already residing in the country where they will be employed—has a valid right to work.

In some countries, Remote requires clients to submit a pre-check for certain residency types, based on internal policies or local quota considerations. When the check is required, it's provided free of charge.

This service is not intended for employees who are not yet living in the country of employment. For those cases, please refer to Immigration Guidance for Relocation.

How to get Pre-employment eligibility check from Remote

You can request Pre-employment eligibility check in two ways: through the Add new EOR employee flow on the Remote platform, or by using this direct link to the form. Here's how to request a pre-employment eligibility check through the Add EOR employee flow:

  1. Go to the Team overview page
  2. Click on the Add new button and choose Add new hire

  3. Choose to add An employee and choose to use Remote’s entity

  4. Select the Managing entity and Billed entity:

  5. To request Immigration Guidance, select I want Remote to help confirm this hire's eligibility, then specify the employee's eligibility status.

  6. You will be taken to the Mobility form where you’ll choose the Pre-employment eligibility check.
  7. Complete the employee's details before submitting the form.
  8. This will be sent to our Global Mobility team, who will assess your case and get in touch with you regarding the next steps
