Entitlement offered at national level

Wedding Leaves

Eligibility

Employee who marry at or after the legal marriage age (20 for women, 22 for men)

Entitlement

3 calendar days

Payment

Fully paid by Employer

Things to Note

  • If the couple works in different cities, they may be granted additional travel leave, depending on the distance. 
  • If an employee gets married during their family visit leave (to visit parents), they will not be granted additional marriage leave. 
  • The marriage leave period includes weekends and public holidays.
  • Individuals who remarry are also entitled to the statutory marriage leave

Menstrual Leave

Eligibility

Female employee suffering from severe dysmenorrhea or menorrhagia

Documentation

A Diagnosis Certificate is required from a recognized medical institution for the leave to be granted

Payment

Fully paid by Employer

Things to Note

  • An optional monthly entitlement
  • Offers at provincial level only
  • Must be used during the menstrual cycle and is not cumulative or continuous across the month.
