Keeping your account safe when using an AI client with Remote

Remote MCP uses the same authentication and access controls as signing in to Remote. A few habits help you keep your data safe when using it with an AI client.

Only connect AI clients you trust

Connect Remote MCP to AI clients you have chosen yourself, such as Claude Desktop, claude.ai, Claude Code, or Cursor. Do not connect AI clients you do not trust. You are responsible for using your AI client safely, in line with Remote's Terms of Use.

Sign in only on the official Remote sign-in page

When your AI client opens a browser window for sign-in, make sure the page is Remote's normal sign-in page. Never paste your Remote password into an AI client.

Use the correct account

If you have more than one Remote account, make sure you are signed in to the right one before you connect.

Disconnect when you no longer need access

If you stop using an AI client, remove the Remote MCP connection from it (see: How do I disconnect Remote MCP from my AI client?).

Be thoughtful about the questions you ask

The AI may include parts of your question and answer in its conversation history. Avoid sharing sensitive information you do not want stored in your AI client's history.
