Remote's Terms of Service (ToS) is a legally binding contract where we outline our terms, rules, and guidelines that a customer must agree to in order to access our service. The ToS is distinct from Remote's Terms of Use - while the Terms of Use apply to all platform users, the ToS specifically governs the service relationship between Remote and its customers.
In this article, we cover the following:
- What are the benefits of the Terms of Service?
- Who should agree to the Terms of Service?
- Can I receive an editable version of the Terms of Service so we can suggest some changes?
- How can I view the Terms of Service after agreeing to them?
- Does Remote keep track of who accepts to the Terms of service?
What are the benefits of the Terms of Service?
In 2022, Remote created new Terms of Service. This improves your experience by allowing you to more quickly, easily, and compliantly hire Remote employees around the world while protecting your IP.
Here are a few of the benefits of the new Terms of Service:
- You no longer have to sign an SLA for every country and an SO for every employee; after agreeing to the Terms, you can easily add and invite an unlimited number of employees from within the Remote platform as you scale globally.
- The Intellectual Property (IP) language has been updated, further improved, and re-vetted by outside counsel to ensure all IP created by the Employee goes to You.
- You are now given an advantageous supercap on IP, Data Protection, and Confidentiality; previously this was capped at 12 months.
- The Terms of Service more accurately reflect Remote’s subscription-based model, reducing risk and, where necessary, adding local language so that You and Remote stay compliant.
- The Terms of Service language features the latest EU Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers of personal data and more accurately reflects the actual transfers between Remote and You.
Who should agree to the Terms of Service?
This should be decided by the Company. During Customer Onboarding, the person who creates the company’s Remote account will also need to accept the Terms of Service for the account creation process to be completed.
Can I receive an editable version of the Terms of Service so we can suggest some changes?
Unfortunately, we will not be accommodating redlining of our Terms of Service (ToS). We have intentionally kept the Terms of Service’s verbiage very simple and narrowed down to avoid the need for redlining.
How can I view the Terms of Service after agreeing to them?
You can view the Terms of Service from the Company settings tab.
- From your Remote dashboard, click on the Company settings tab.
- Under the Company information tab, scroll down to the Terms of Service section.
- From this section, you can view the Terms of Service and also see who agreed to it.
Does Remote keep track of who accepts to the Terms of service?
Yes, during Customer Onboarding, we can track who accepts the Terms of Service and when they take this action.
Can Remote provide a signed version of our Terms of Services?
Based on Remote's policies, we do not provide signed versions of the Terms of Service. The ToS can be accessed and downloaded once you create an account on the Remote platform. We cannot provide a signed copy of the ToS as these terms were accepted online, nor can we amend them after acceptance. Any modifications would have required an addendum prior to acceptance. However, we can provide a ToS supplemental letter confirming when you accepted the terms on the platform. This letter would require signatures from both Remote and the Client. If this is sufficient, then you should please provide us with the name and email address of the customer’s contact and we will attach the letter on the Legal ticket once it’s drafted to send out to the signatories via DocuSign.
